The challenge I think we should offer each of our party leaders – and perhaps all parliamentary candidates – is to take moral character tests and let us debate the results on prime-time TV. And failure by any leader to accept this challenge will itself be evidence that they lack the moral courage, respect and honesty to deserve our vote. 
How we decide what’s right is not something that is a part of our basic curricula, in school, in business and in life. Most of the time, most of us are able to get by. But attacking another country needs much more than a messianic speech. 
Experian boss Don Robert has said that the UK near-term economic outlook looks weak and I’m sure he’s right, but is it just me or is there not a definitely perceptible improvement in business confidence?
